Onofrio Virdo will have a gig at Second Cup in downtown Toronto, located at King and Strachan this Friday, February 5, 2010 from 7-9pm.
The evening will be soothed with uplifting flavours of Classical, Latin and Jazz guitar, all played by Onofrio Virdo.
Come on out and bring a friend – or make new friends as well. Enjoy a coffee, a meal or refreshement. This is an opportunity to have Onofrio’s music take your daily stresses away and put in you a place of oasis.
I’ve learned recently that I gotta respond to that “nudge within” me, whenever inspiration strikes – act. So there was this music composition briming in me and i needed to get it out. It came while we had some sort of white out of snow. Anyway, hope you like it!
Wow, i just tried out Shaklee’s new Energy Chews product and I must say, it is not only delicious, it also works right away! It’s lemon flavored and chews like a Starburst candy chew. There’s not real aftertaste and it goes down nicely.
I was feeling more energy and had such mental clarity for a good few hours that i needed it. What I liked about the chew is that it activates when your body needs it – that is, when you are either in action or need to keep your eyes open when you’re working the night shift.
When I took on a music director’s role back in 2006, it was a pretty good opportunity to experience being the go-to guy behind the music. I got a chance to work with some of the Toronto filipino community’s A-list singers, and also some that I felt needed to work on their performance and artistry. For a time, it was good. But then i got a pretty hard taste of it when the latter of the group of singers seemed to think that my playing wasn’t that good. To avoid any sort of conflict, I would just give in instead of putting up an argument. After all, without trying to brag here, I do have the ears to make a quality musical performance.
I know this post is coming in late, but I want to wish you a happy new year!
2010 will be a year in which I plan to finally break out and make things happen. For one thing, I am going to commit to my music projects being produced and come through. Secondly, I want to help people and I’ve decided to take my small business to the next level as well. If you’re wondering what this is all about, click on the “Opportunity” link in the menu above.
I just want to take the time to wish you a very, Merry Christmas and a beautiful loving season. This is the time of Jesus Christ’s birth, our saviour and Lord of all. Jesus loves us all, regardless of whether you are of a different belief system, or anything. He only asks that we believe in him, love him and love others, especially through good works and faith.
Again, Merry Christmas and have a beautiful Christmas Season.
Christmas Eve of this year started off with a pretty sorrowful beginning. In the morning, I played music for a funeral at St. Thomas More Catholic Church. It’s really difficult knowing that somebody will be laid to rest on the eve of Christ’s birth. Usually, this is the time of the year when everyone is getting excited about the season rush, getting last minute gift purchases in order, going about the hustle and bustle.
I asked my wife to sing Panis Angelicus, a song that she is more familiar with and one that I’m in the process of learning. We also did a beautiful rendition of the Prayer of St. Francis as well.
Last week, Chyrell and I got a chance to see the Vancouver 2010 Olympic torch upclose and it was totally awesome. It was already freezing weather in the morning, waiting for the torch bearer to come up our street and suddenly I had goosebumps galore. It just occurred to me – If we ever get the Olympics in Toronto, my dream is to be a Torch bearer. What would be totally awesome is to be the final torch bearer and the one to light the opening ceremony flame.
If you get a chance, check out a band called the “Cast of Angels”. They are a rock band that has a huge sound with soul. I swear, these guys sound amazing and I can feel their music. I got to hear them at Yonge and Dundas Square for the first time and they blew the roof off the venue. I got to see them again last Sunday afternoon at a Filipino Unity Concert and man, did they get the whole place rockin’.
You will need either Windows Media Player or iTunes installed on your machine in order to hear these songs. If you do, just click on a song, select your player and enjoy!
